In those capacities he distinguished himself will fellow members and the Local union. In 1994 Lynn was appointed to fill a vacancy on the Executive Board and then that same year was elected to the office of Vice-president on the Local Executive Board. In 1996 he was elected to the position of President, then was re-elected twice to that same office. In 2001 he was elected to be an alternate delegate to the Teamsters International Convention. In 2006 and 2011 he was elected as International Delegate and represented members at the International Convention. Lynn served as President until May of 2003, when the Executive Board appointed him to fill the vacated position of Secretary-treasurer. He has served as Principal Officer since 2003 and has been reelected each term. He has successfully represented members in Federal Security hearings, conducted many successful mediation hearings and served as Chief Negotiator. As the Principal Officer he oversees and directs the union office staff, monitors Local union finances and directs the general affairs of the Local union. Lynn graduated from North Torrance High School and attended Allan Hancock College while working on his Associates of Science Degree; supplementing this education with courses on Labor Law, Management Principles, Human Relations, and Communications Skills. As Principal Officer Lynn has emphasized that "the members come first". Lynn feels that members should see their Business Agent on a regular basis, and receive prompt, professional service. He understands the union can accomplish much more when members stop thinking of their union as a business that provides a service and think of the union as a group of people banded together to fight for common interests.
